Rock Creek Pool Membership FAQs
Membership in Rock Creek Pool is open to all who reside within the pool’s geographic boundaries (see Waitlist Application map). The pool bylaws establish that anyone who resides within the pool boundaries may become a “regular” member of the pool and “persons in the family of and residing with a member, and such other residents of the member’s household as the Board may approve,” are considered “associate members.” In practice, there is no distinction between “regular” and “associate members” in terms of facility privileges.
When the bylaws speak of “members” they are referring to Equity Members. The policies of who is considered an eligible member of the pool extend to those on the waitlist, including those with Full Summer and August Swim, as well as Senior Swim privileges. For the purposes of this FAQ, therefore, “member” includes those on the waitlist for Equity Membership, unless otherwise noted.
Rock Creek Pool reserves the right to question any account holder who has more than 2 adults (except those registered as caregivers/houseguests) or appears to be sharing their account with extended family or ineligible people. Policy violations may result in charges or penalties up to and including account closure. Contact Admin@RockCreekPool.com with questions before adding account members.
The following FAQs are intended to answer common questions that arise regarding pool membership.
| 1 | Who is considered an Account Member?
|
All people related by blood, marriage, law, or comparable relationships to the “regular” member, and who permanently reside in the same residence of the “regular” member are eligible to be associate members of the pool. In addition, the Board may approve of other associate members beyond family members. Household residents who are employed as caretakers or in any other capacity are not considered family members and must come to the pool as a guest of a member. |
| 2 | What does “residing with” mean? | Family members who are permanently living at the member’s address for the foreseeable future, with no intention of moving or returning to a different residence, are considered to “reside with” the regular member. Guests and extended family members (such as, grandchildren) who are temporarily living with the member, even for an extended period, are not considered permanent residents of the member’s household and therefore must come to the pool as guests of a member. Family members who are away at college are considered to reside within the member household, but adult children who have established their own residency are not. |
| 3 | Can one location be comprised of more than one residence? | A physical location (house, apartment, etc.) is not considered to be a single residence if there are indicators that the location comprises multiple residences (different addresses, utility accounts, etc.). In this case, each household must have its own pool membership. |
| 4 | At what point does residence within the boundaries begin? | Prospective pool members must physically fully reside within the pool boundaries before applying to the waitlist. For those moving into the area, this means their move-in date, not a closing date or any other time before physical residence within the boundaries has been established. This policy is intended to establish a uniform rule applicable to all prospective members. |
| 5 | Must members maintain residence within the pool’s boundaries after initially qualifying and joining the waitlist? | Equity Members may maintain their membership if they move outside of the pool’s boundaries. All those on the waitlist for Equity Membership, including Summer and August swimmers, must continue to reside within the pool boundaries to maintain their eligibility for pool membership. |
