Karaoke, Games nights

Good afternoon, RCP members! This is your News of the Week. Here’s what’s happening at the pool …

VOLLEYBALL SEMINAR — Thursday, June 20 … Come down to the court tomorrow at 6:30 pm to learn the basics of how to play the game. Our talented instructors will introduce you to the rules, teach you serve and hitting techniques and give you some pointers on strategy. This is open to kids and adults!

KARAOKE — Saturday, June 22 … It’s your turn to take center stage! Pick a song from the KARAFUN.COM catalog, sign up and show us what you’ve got! We’ll start taking song selections at 6 pm and the singing gets going around 7 pm.

GAMES NIGHT — Saturday, June 29 … Is your family wild for board games? Bring a favorite game to the Pavilion and enjoy a fun evening with fellow fans. Anyone is welcome to play, but sign up ahead of time so we have a rough idea of how many folks are coming. Also, we could really use a few Game Coordinators to keep things fun and running smoothly: GAMES NIGHT SIGN UP

FINS SCHEDULE … The swim team is away for their next few meets. Tonight, the FINS are at Franklin Knolls and this Saturday’s A Meet is at Calverton. Next Wednesday, the road trip continues with a B Meet against NCC. The dive team, meanwhile, takes to the road on Sunday afternoon to compete against Tanterra. Go luck and go get ’em, FINS!

FINS GEAR ON SALE … Want to show your support for our FINS? All Rock Creek Pool families are invited to purchase towels featuring the RC Fins logo. The towels are available for order through Friday, June 28, and should be delivered to the pool within two weeks. The cost is $25 per towel.

EARLY BIRDS ARE BACK … Lap swimmers (adults only) can get in some early-morning exercise every Monday, Wednesday and Friday (6:30 am – 8 am) until August 23. Please sign in when you arrive and be prepared to share lanes.

SWIM LESSONS? … We’re asked often about swim lessons at the pool. While RCP doesn’t officially offer them, some coaches and lifeguards do provide private lessons. Check at the front desk and/or keep an eye out for flyers around the pool. Please note: you may not bring in an outside instructor per our contract with the pool management company.

POOL HOURS … The pool is open for general use most days from 10 am – 9 pm. When there is a home swim meet, the pool is closed for general use. The diving well is closed during dive team meets. And keep an eye out for Summer thunderstorms. Lifeguards must clear the pool and surrounding areas for at least 45 minutes if they hear thunder. If you’re unsure, call the front desk (301-585-1185) to check the pool’s status.
